  2. DSM-Firmenich has launched a new generation of Dairy Safe™ fermentation cultures, suitable for semi-hard, hard, and European-style cheeses.
According to the company, the culture series improves resistance to bacteriophages and thermal stability while ensuring consistent acidification, uniform eye formation, and faster flavor development in cheese. Dairy Safe™ combines nisin-producing and nisin-insensitive strains, with a nisin content higher than that of comparable products on the market, effectively inhibiting spoilage bacteria. The product provides two flavor profiles — creamy savory and light broth sweetness — and is suitable for cow, goat, and sheep milk.
  3. The Indonesian Food and Drug Authority (BPOM) has officially issued Regulation No. 17 of 2025 on the Guidelines for the Evaluation of Health Supplements Containing Probiotics (PerBPOM 17/2025). Its fiber content is equivalent to the amount found in approximately 875 grams of tomatoes. The probiotic strains added include Bifidobacterium animalis CECT8145 (BPL1®), Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis HN01, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum LP-KFY04, and four other strains, making it suitable for various scenarios such as work and fitness.

The report pointed out that as a bidirectional regulatory network connecting the gastrointestinal tract and the nervous system, the gut–brain axis plays a significant role in mental disorders. On one hand, gut microbiota interventions can improve depressive disorders, bipolar affective disorder, and cognitive impairment caused by sleep deprivation. On the other hand, abnormal gut microbiota in infancy may increase the risk of neurodevelopmental disorders and affect the development of the nervous system in children.
  14. Morinaga Milk Industry Co., Ltd. in Japan has launched a new postbiotic ingredient called LAC-Living+, which focuses on improving mood and maintaining a positive emotional state, bringing new vitality to the field of emotional wellness.

This process preserves its active components while providing a longer shelf life and broader application flexibility. Its core mechanism supports emotional health through modulation of the gut–brain axis. Clinical research has further validated its efficacy and safety. A randomized controlled trial involving 58 participants showed that four weeks of continuous supplementation with LAC-Living+ significantly improved feelings of “friendliness” and “relaxation.” Another study involving 46 nursing students also demonstrated a significant increase in their “positive affect” scores. No adverse effects were reported in either trial, indicating good safety. Thanks to its excellent heat resistance and stability, LAC-Living+ can be widely applied in various product forms, including beverages, snacks, baked goods, and dietary supplements. Building on its success in the Japanese market, Morinaga Milk plans to further expand this innovative ingredient to the Asia-Pacific region and global markets.

Whole-genome sequencing has confirmed that the strain possesses good safety and intestinal regulatory functions. This strain has already been applied to various end products such as probiotic dairy beverages and “yogurt companion” formulations, promoting innovative integration and health-oriented application of probiotics in dairy products.
