HPA (China) – February 2026
- On February 5, 2026, China’s National Health Commission (NHC) released an announcement approving 22 types of “Three New Foods”, including Bifidobacterium longum subsp. infantis YLGB-1496. It has been approved for inclusion in the List of Strains Permitted for Use in Infant and Young Children’s Foods. Its safety indicators must comply with National Food Safety Standard – Microbial Preparations for Food Processing (GB 31639), and Cronobacter spp. must be non-detectable (/100 g).
- On February 11, the National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment released a notice, entrusted by the National Health Commission. In accordance with the Food Safety Law of the People’s Republic of China and the Administrative Measures for the Safety Review of New Food Raw Materials, the new food raw material Animalis subspecies of Bifidobacterium lactis CP-9 has passed the technical review by the expert review committee. The material is now open for public consultation, with the deadline for feedback set for March 13.
- Thankcome Biological Science and Technology Co., Ltd. was awarded the First Prize of the 2025 Jilin Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award for its project titled Key Technologies and Applications for the Screening of High-Quality Probiotic Strains and the Development of Health Foods.
- Juneyao RunYing made an appearance at the Food Ingredients Europe exhibition (Fi Europe 2025) held in Paris, France. At the exhibition, the company not only highlighted its AKK dual flagship strains—AKKBG-001® (heat-inactivated) and AKK WST01 (live)—but also shared major breakthroughs achieved across the full industrialization process chain of AKK.
- Juneyao Health, in collaboration with Hema, launched the new product J26 Hundred-Billion Live Bacteria Green Plum Water. According to official information, the product is formulated with NFC green plum juice (total juice addition ≥30%) and Lactiplantibacillus plantarum J26 (live count ≥200 × 10⁸ CFU), supplemented with JL-1 Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus, LA-G80 Lactobacillus acidophilus, BL-G101 Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis, as well as resistant dextrin (a prebiotic). The beverage features a refreshing, tart flavor and is positioned for various consumption occasions such as meals, office settings, and sports activities.
- Juneyao Health also launched the new product Probiotic Silver Nutrition Bottle. According to official disclosures, the product contains three probiotic strains—JL-1 Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus, BL-G101 Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis, and LA-G80 Lactobacillus acidophilus. It incorporates bird’s nest sourced from Malaysia and is enriched with dual proteins from milk powder and rice flour. Each bottle provides 364 mg of calcium, along with magnesium, vitamin E, niacin, iron, zinc, vitamin B6, and vitamin B12. With a rich and smooth taste profile, the product is positioned for consumption by middle-aged and elderly populations.
- Juneyao Health has launched a new probiotic nutrition bottled beverage. According to the brand, the product contains three proprietary probiotic strains—JL-1 Lactobacillus rhamnosus, LA-G80 Lactobacillus acidophilus, and BL-G101 Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis. It is formulated with whole milk powder and rice flour, providing dual protein sources, and is further fortified with calcium, zinc, iron, magnesium, niacin, lutein esters, and vitamin E.
- Bright Dairy Rushi has introduced a High-Protein Greek-Style Fermented Milk at Sam’s Club. The new product is made with only two ingredients—raw milk and fermented milk containing Bright Dairy’s patented active probiotic strain BD3510. Each cup delivers 13.5 g of protein, with 140 mg of calcium per 100 g and 55 mg of sodium per 100 g, offering a smooth and rich mouthfeel suitable for meal replacement or DIY consumption scenarios.
- Weidongli has launched a Probiotic Vitamin-Mineral Sparkling Water. According to the brand, the product is fortified with eight vitamins and minerals (vitamins B6, B12, C, E, calcium, magnesium, zinc, and niacin) and features four probiotic strains from Juneyao Health’s portfolio—J26 Lactiplantibacillus plantarum, JL-1 Lactobacillus rhamnosus, BL-G101 Bifidobacterium animalissubsp. lactis, and Lactobacillus acidophilus. The beverage adopts a zero-fat, low-calorie formulation, targeting sports and meal-pairing consumption occasions.
- Dingdong Maicai’s private label Dingdong V5 has rolled out a new product, “Good Night Black Yogurt.” The product is made from 100% grassland raw milk and fermented with the J26 Lactobacillus plantarum strain, known for high γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) production, using a traditional Mongolian fermentation process. It is paired with oat-based fruit jam granules containing cuttlefish ink powder, delivering a thick, mildly sweet texture with a rich dairy aroma.
- ChaCha has collaborated with Milk Dragon to launch a new Growth Nut Mix. According to the brand, the product features a more playful, cartoon-style packaging and is fortified with lutein esters, 1 billion CFU of live probiotics, and calcium.
- Want Want has introduced a Low-GI Yogurt for Middle-Aged and Elderly Consumers. The product contains 2.6 billion lactic acid bacteria, is formulated with zero sucrose and zero lactose, and is high in dietary fiber. The reported glycemic index (GI) is approximately 49.
- According to official information, Freshippo has launched a postbiotic soda water. The new products all use Pylopass™ Lactobacillus reuteri, and the original flavor adopts a zero-sugar formulation.
- On February 2, Italian biotechnology company Sacco System Group announced the establishment of its Shanghai subsidiary, Siyike, to further integrate into the Chinese probiotics market. Sacco System Group is an internationally renowned biotechnology enterprise, with products covering lactic fermentation cultures, probiotics, postbiotics, enzyme preparations, and more, and operations spanning over 110 countries and regions worldwide. The company launched its Asia-Pacific strategy in 2018 and has since entered markets including Singapore, Japan, and Australia.
- A latest clinical study published by AB-BIOTICS in the European Journal of Pediatrics has confirmed that its AB21® probiotic combination (containing Lactobacillus plantarum KABP®022, KABP®023, KABP®033, and Pediococcus acidilactici KABP®021) demonstrated significant effects in the intervention of viral upper respiratory tract infections in children, providing important support for respiratory health protection in the pediatric population.
- A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical study published by AB-BIOTICS in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology has confirmed that the postbiotic AB-Sakei 65®—an inactivated Lactobacillus sakei KABP-065—can improve the skin condition of healthy women aged 30–50, including enhanced skin hydration and significantly improved skin elasticity, providing a new scientific solution for oral anti-aging.
- Novonesis and Novo Nordisk have established a research collaboration to jointly explore the role of the gut microbiome in maintaining metabolic health. Both parties will jointly develop synbiotic dietary supplements combining probiotics and prebiotics and evaluate their ability to influence metabolic health-related indicators such as blood glucose and cholesterol levels. In addition, the collaboration will study how to use the gut microbiome to monitor and predict individual metabolic status and overall health trajectories. The project will also explore novel biomarkers to assess the effectiveness of gut microbiome solutions.
- Morinaga Milk Industry is participating in the Osaka–Kansai Expo with “Bifidobacteria Superman” as the theme, offering experiences such as VR gut exploration, gut microbiome testing, ultrasound experiences, the road to super longevity, and beautiful skin pinball brick-breaking games, demonstrating the significant potential of bifidobacteria in gut microbiota, aging, and skin health.
- Kirin will launch a “Plasma Lactic Acid Bacteria Honey Lemon Hot Ginger Drink.” According to official information, the new product is a hot beverage containing plasma lactic acid bacteria, with each bottle containing 100 billion plasma lactic acid bacteria. It is formulated with ginger extract as the base ingredient and features honey and lemon flavors, helping to maintain immune function in healthy individuals, with a warm and smooth taste.
- Meiji has launched the “Meiji HbA1c Countermeasure” series in Japan, including yogurt and yogurt drink products. According to official information, the series contains Meiji’s proprietary MI-2 lactic acid bacteria, which has been clinically proven to help reduce elevated glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) levels in healthy individuals. It is the world’s first dairy product labeled with an HbA1c function and is suitable for people with blood glucose management needs as a daily dietary health supplement.
- Meiji Hohoemi has launched Japan’s first infant formula containing bifidobacteria. According to official information, the new product contains bifidobacteria OLB6378 and is available in both can packaging (780 g) and EZcube formats (108 g / 540 g / 810 g / 1620 g).
- The U.S. functional nutrition brand Designs for Health (DFH) has launched the world’s first probiotic product focused on gut mucosal repair—Anaerostipes Probiotic. Its proprietary strain Anaerostipes caccae CLB101 can convert excess lactate in the gut into butyrate. Butyrate is the primary energy source for colonic cells and can directly repair the intestinal epithelium, strengthen barrier structure, and reduce gut permeability, while regulating immune balance through the gut–immune axis and helping to maintain a healthy metabolic environment. This strain also exhibits “symbiotic activation” properties, forming cross-feeding relationships with other beneficial bacteria to promote gut microbiota diversity and enhance ecosystem stability and resilience.
